Comprehensive Weight Management Tailored to You
About Us
Wave Metabolic Weight Management Clinic provides comprehensive, nurse practitioner–led care to help you achieve lasting improvements in your health.
Our nurse practitioners are highly trained with advanced education and expanded licensure. They are qualified to assess, diagnose, treat and monitor a wide range of health conditions, applying an evidence-based approach to every aspect of care.
At Wave, our philosophy is simple:
Your Health Comes First
We take a holistic view of each individual, focusing on metabolic health and overall well-being rather than numbers on a scale. Together, we develop personalized, medically sound care plans designed to help you feel your best.
All of our interventions are guided by the Obesity Canada Clinical Practice Guidelines. As a medical clinic, our mission is to provide safe, ethical and effective medical treatment, not cosmetic weight loss.
We invite you to contact us to learn more about how evidence-based nurse practitioner care can support your journey toward better metabolic health.
The Team
Zafreen Nazarali
Nurse PractitionerZafreen is a Primary Healthcare Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of experience in diabetes and metabolic health. She’s spent her entire NP career supporting people with complex metabolic conditions and helping them create changes that are realistic, sustainable, and rooted in real life.
Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Zafreen completed a Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Toronto. This diverse educational background positions her well to understand both the mechanics and metabolic processes of the human body. She is additionally recognized as a Certified Diabetes Educator and Certified Bariatric Educator.
Zafreen takes an evidence-based, no–one-size-fits-all approach to weight and metabolic health. She works collaboratively with patients to build personalized strategies in a supportive, stigma-free space where people feel heard and respected. Her focus is on health, function, and long-term well-being.
Outside the clinic, Zafreen is an avid world traveler. She has visited dozens of countries world-wide and aspires to see more. She is committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle by practicing what she preaches - recognizing the importance of balance, nutrition and physical activity for her own health and well-being.
Alex is a nurse practitioner with expertise in metabolic health, diabetes care and mental health. She began her nursing career working with older adults in long-term care after graduating from Brock University in 2016.
Working as a nurse in diverse clinical settings such as community mental health, acute psychiatry and long-term care allowed Alex to strengthen her aptitude for caring for individuals with complex chronic disease. For this reason, she pursued and completed the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner program at the Western University, after having completed a Master of Public Health from the University of Victoria. She now practices at McMaster University Medical Centre in the Adult Diabetes Clinic where she integrates medical and behavioural approaches to chronic disease management.
Alex is a Certified Diabetes Educator and a Certified Bariatric Educator, which provides her with deep insight into the physiological and psychological aspects of weight management and metabolic health. She is dedicated to offering compassionate, evidence-based, and client-centered care. She is committed to continually advancing her knowledge to ensure she provides the most relevant, evidence-informed care.
In her spare time, Alex loves to snuggle with her cats and cook for friends and family. She started dancing recreationally as an adult, so she looks forward to dance classes every week. Alex is a strong supporter of active transportation and regularly commutes on her e-bike.
